TL's Success Story

TL came to Calgary Career Hub in February 2021. TL had worked in IT previously, but after being unemployed for two months she was not sure if she wanted to return to the industry or take the opportunity to try something new. She needed career planning support to help her focus her search, as well as help with resume writing and interview skills.

CCH identified TL’s barriers to employment as job targeting, resume building and interview skills. She was registered for the Career Hero Program where she attended workshops such as Progress Hub, Career Exploration, Self-Marketing, Change Management, Networking, LinkedIn, Hero Job Search and Effective Communication. TL worked one-on-one with her Career Advisor to refine her resume and cover letter, discuss career options, develop a LinkedIn profile and prepare for the interviews.

TL says, “I gained valuable awareness and insight once I accomplished those achievements.”

After weeks of struggling to identify a new career path on her own, TL and her Career Advisor were able to focus on opportunities that fit her needs as well as aligning with her core values.

TL attended every scheduled workshop and meeting, and stayed positive and open to advice throughout the program. She also stayed active in her job search and was able to quickly secure a job in a company that values her, doing work that she enjoys.

TL now works full-time within the health sector as a Data Analyst. “I appreciated that Calgary Career Hub was a free service for unemployed Calgarians.” says TL.
