Samik's Success Story

Samik began services with Calgary Career Hub in December 2020 after being unemployed for three months. With few interviews and no offers, Samik was losing confidence in his skills. He was also unsure how to profile his relevant achievements and experience to fit the opportunities in his desired field.

To help Samik build his confidence and skills, Calgary Career Hub provided a variety of support. Samik attended workshops in resume writing, job search techniques, self-marketing, interview skills, change management, LinkedIn for the Professional Job Seeker, networking and effective communication.

“My achievements with CCH helped set me back on track – not only for my career but in personal life as well. I got to know myself more and was able to define my goals,” says Samik.

Samik also worked one-on-one with his Career Advisor and with a Job Developer to refine his resume and cover letter, develop his online profile and prepare for interviews. By helping Samik understand his strengths and how his experience matched his job targets, he developed the confidence to tackle any job search challenge.

Samik said, “I appreciate the Calgary Career Hub team’s support with interview preparation. I lacked confidence initially, but by attending CCH workshops and working with advisors, I achieved great results. Thank you, CCH, for all support and helping to keep me motivated.”

Despite the challenges of looking for work during a pandemic, Samik maintained a positive attitude throughout the process, showing up to every workshop and appointment. He attended an employer spotlight with 7X powered Inc. where he learned about his current employer. Samik now works full time as an Inside Sales Representative for 7X powered Inc.

“I am proud that I handled my job search time well and stayed positive; that first step is always difficult. Finding employment during the COVID-19 pandemic is an accomplishment. I see this job as the first step to position myself for my next accomplishment on the way to reaching my goals.”
