Katrina's Success Story

Katrina moved to Calgary from Manitoba and had been unemployed since July when she decided to try Calgary Career Hub. In Manitoba, Katrina worked in the public sector and was hoping to find a similar job in her new city, but she found it difficult to get her resume read.

"I realized that a lot of the things I thought I knew about job search are now obsolete," says Katrina.

Katrina worked hard, and so did the team at Calgary Career Hub. She completed workshops on writing resumes, cover letters, selfmarketing,effective communication, LinkedIn, networking, and more. Katrina also took advantage of 1-on-1 sessions with her career advisor to get feedback on her new resume. She improved her PowerPoint skills with courses through ReTrain Canada. This skillbuilding and training made Katrina more competitive in today's job market.

"I know the job market here is way more competitive than where I came from. I registered in Calgary Career Hub to be updated, prepared, and empowered to compete in the job market."

And all of the hard work paid off. Just a few months after joining Calgary Career Hub, Katrina landed her dream job as a Divisional Administrator with the City of Calgary. She works 35 hours a week and makes a great living for her and her family!

"Since I’m employed now, my family and I can finally settle in Calgary and hopefully soon we’ll buy our own house," says Katrina.
