Cesar's Story
Cesar began services with Calgary Career Hub in June of 2020. His spouse got a job offer in Canada, so he left his position to relocate with his family. Cesar was unemployed for a total of 4 months.
Cesar’s main barriers were understanding the Canadian job search process and where to begin. He had to learn which questions would be asked in an interview and how to build his network of connections in Canada.
Cesar was a great candidate because he had all the experience and qualifications needed to get employment.
Calgary Career Hub helped Cesar with tailoring his resume and cover letter to be more ATS friendly and highlighting his relevant work experience. He got interview training and how to clearly communicate his answers which helped Cesar’s confidence. Cesar took part in all the workshops; Networking and information interviews, Resume and Cover Letter Writing, Change Management, Self-Marketing, Hero Job Search 1 and 2, Career Exploration, Interview Skills 1 and 2, and LinkedIn.
He also had 5 sessions with his Career Advisor and 2 sessions with a Job Developer to sharpen his interview skills. These workshops and meetings helped Cesar gain rounded knowledge about job searching in Canada.
Cesar was successful because he showed up with a positive attitude and asked questions and asked for support when he needed it. He was committed and did a great job of engaging with the available resources. He applied exactly what he learned to become successful in his career goals.
Cesar shared... “With all the support in every detail of my process, I never felt alone.” And “All the Calgary Career Hub team went above and beyond, great workshops, great support in the interview preparations and the improvement of my cover letter and resume made the difference.”
Congratulations on your new job, Cesar!
