Caroline's Success Story
Caroline began service with Calgary Career Hub in November of 2020. She was laid off due to Covid-19 and was unemployed for about 7 months.
Caroline needed to update her resume and cover letter because she was going to apply for positions outside of her field. She wanted to change careers, so she had to tailor her resume and cover letter to match the new industries she wanted to work in.
For Caroline’s career goals, they had to identify the skills that she could transfer to the new careers and improve her cover letter and resume to highlight the skills and experience to be ATS friendly.
To assist Caroline with her career goals, Calgary Career Hub provided resources and workshops including; Resumes That Get Read 1 and 2, Cover Letters and References, Networking and Informational Interviews, Change Management and Interview skills. Caroline also worked one on one with her Career Advisor and Information Service Coordinator to review her resume and discuss the format of cover letters.
Caroline was successful because she asked a lot of questions and was open to constructive feedback. She was eager with her job search, attended all the workshops available and applied exactly what she learned to all her job applications.
Caroline shared, “I was successful due to the effectiveness of the staff and the quality of the program and the resource room.” “Everything was very important as I was applying for jobs and having interviews at the same time so the fact that I was able to schedule the one on ones with my Career Advisor in a timely fashion and start the workshops right away was great.”
CAROLINE, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW ROLE!
