Terry's Success Story

Many people experienced the adverse effects of the pandemic on their careers, unfortunately, Terry was one of them. The impact of the pandemic on Terry’s employment was difficult to cope with, however, paired with the passing of his father he was left devastated. Terry took time to grieve, and recover, however, noticed that as more time went on his confidence to return to work diminished.

Nevertheless, Terry knew he wanted to return to work. After four months of job searching alone, he decided to reach out to Calgary Career Hub. Terry was paired with one of Calgary Career Hub’s Career Advisors. She introduced Terry to a 12-week plan with Calgary Career Hub to receive support through workshops and one to one support. Terry also received support in Job Development, where he was provided access to employer and recruiter connections that included job leads and referrals along with opportunity to practice his interview skills.

Terry was open to advice and suggestions that would help him better market himself to employers. By the end of his 12-week plan, Terry felt motivated and confident in applying for positions that he had previously felt were not within his skill set. Terry acquired employment as an Electrical Panel Assembler. Not only did he achieve employment, but he also learned valuable skills that he will carry with him throughout his career. His story is one of resilience, strength, and determination to reinvent where his path was leading. Congratulations Terry!
