Jossue's Success Story Pt. 1

Jossue had been unemployed for a month as he was completely new to Calgary. He graduated in Business Administration and had previous experience in Sales and Customer Service but wanted to transition to a new career path in Project Management and Coordination. Jossue’s main barrier was the lack of experience in the field he wanted to transition into. When he found Calgary Career Hub, he knew he was going to get the help he needed to succeed.

“Unfortunately, the job market is tough right now, so being able to land a job in anew city in a relatively short time was a real challenge.”

Together with his Career Advisor they established a twelve-week plan with Calgary Career Hub to receive one-on-one job search support, work on building and his resume and cover letter to showcase his transferable skills, access employer connections and job leads, and practice his interview skills with interview preparation sessions as well so he was comfortable.

Jossue participated in multiple workshops like HERO Job Search, Resumes, Cover Letters and References, Change Management, Effective Communication, Networking and Informational Interviews, Self-Marketing, and many more.

“It doesn't matter how bad things look; we need to try anyway. During my job search, I had the opportunity to meet people with different opinions and strategies regarding the job-hunting situation. And at the end of the day, most people who didn't give up are the ones who got better results.”

Due to his hard work, determination, and the help of Calgary Career Hub Jossue is now employed as Program Supervisor for a Non-for-Profit organization. Congratulations Jossue!
