Alexander's Success Story

Alexander had been on the hunt for employment since January 2024 when he was laid off from his previous employer. Alexander had been applying to jobs in his area, but was struggling to find sustainable employment. By the fall, Alexander sought out support in his employment journey from Calgary Career Hub and registered as a client for employment services.

Initially, Alexander hoped to achieve employment in accounting, but upon reflecting, he realized that this position was quite stressful for him. He discussed this with his Career Advisor and came to the decision that he would pursue an office position in Purchasing or Data Entry.

Alexander met with his Career Advisor frequently to tailor his cover letter and resume to reflect his transferrable skills. They also worked closely on interview preparation and how to stay motivated throughout an employment journey. Despite facing financial difficulties, Alexander stayed positive and determined to secure employment.

After much perseverance, Alexander achieved employment as a Purchaser. He feels proud of his accomplishment, and says his employment brought a sense of dignity and pride back into his life.
