Eugene's Success Story
Eugene immigrated to Calgary under incredibly difficult circumstances. He was forced to flee his home in Ukraine earlier this year when war broke out, and it was no longer safe to stay. Eugene came to Calgary Career Hub (CCH) in June looking for help adjusting his resume and interviewing skills to the Canadian job market.
“Thanks to the advice I received from CCH employees, I’ve managed to redo my resume to the Canadian standards. I also obtained valuable knowledge about preparing for interviews, networking, and maintaining optimism,” says Eugene.
The Staff at Calgary Career Hub have extensive labour market knowledge about the Calgary region. Not only can they help you adjust your skills and experience to the Canadian market, but they can also help connect you to those hidden jobs.
“All of my friends were saying that I wouldn’t be able to start a new life in Canada without having a series of survival jobs. It is a pretty good feeling; I must say – proving them wrong.”
While Eugene worked hard to complete workshops on resume and cover letter writing, networking and setting up an effective LinkedIn page, CCH connected him with a recruiter actively looking for someone with his skill set. Throughout the process, Eugene worried that he wouldn't be able to find quality employment in Canada and would need to take a "survival job."
Within two months, Eugene was hired in his dream job with the City of Calgary. He is looking forward to a bright future in his new home. We couldn't be more proud.
Congratulations, Eugene!
