2022 - A Year of New Opportunities!

Forget the new normal, 2022 will be the year of new opportunities. With Alberta expecting to gain many thousands more new digital focused jobs by 2023, according to the Information and Technology Council, there’s never been a better time to consider acquiring new technological credentials to advance your career.

Regardless of industry, employers expect employees to have core skills in computer literacy such as proficiency in the MS Office suite. In addition, employers expect candidates to have good people skills including communication, teamwork and some level of critical thinking or problem-solving skill.

Employers will be using new strategies to create workplaces which will successfully navigate digital transformation. Gone are the days of measuring success by physical presence, as Covid-19 has propelled conventional office environments into entirely new worlds. The current state of normal, which can change hour to hour and day to day, requires organizations to offer greater flexibility. The emphasis is now on work progress, quality and delivery.

Some of the fastest projected growth for 2022 in Alberta will occur in the healthcare, healthcare support, construction, and personal care fields. Together, these four occupational groups are expected to account for more than 5.3 million new jobs by 2022, about one-third of the total employment growth.
